Would You Like to Buy a Vowel?

Finally! I think I’ve waited long enough for my packages to reach their destinations. Here’s my little project for this year’s paper swap with a school theme:

Ta da! I made a  letter set highlighting vowels for all of my lovely swap partners. I thought a little outside the box on the theme and I’m happy with how it turned out! Each set comes with 4 sheets (2 designs of each) and 4 envelopes. I wanted to make a set for everyone who participated, but I just didn’t have the time! All the envelopes are hand-stamped by yours truly:

It was quite an undertaking. This is only half the stack:

I used my VERY modest design skills to make the stationery. 26 letters=2 sheets 6” x 7”:

If you look closely, you’ll notice that the lines are actually made up of the letters themselves. Those are some tiny a’s!

I also hand stamped the packaging (made out of a grocery bag). One of my fav parts of the project! :)

I even stamped the addresses!

It was so fun! Thank you to everyone who participated. My packages are starting to trickle in and so far I’m very impressed with what I’ve gotten. Great job guys! :)

I originally wanted to make a holiday version of the security stamp postcards I created for the paper swap for the holiday card swap, but my computer is badly in need of a replacement and so I went analog instead.

I turned to my old favorites: silhouettes and office supplies. I can’t wait to send these out!

Thoughts on the Paper Swap?

I should have done this right after the paper swap, but better late than never eh?

Personally, I thought the swap went very well considering it was our first. But I wanted to get some feedback from people who either participated in the swap or were intrigued by the idea as to what they liked, didn’t like, what needed clarification, etc. I already have a few tweaks in mind, but I’m open to suggestions.

So I’ve decided to turn this post into a little forum and I encourage you to leave a comment or send an email to: paperswap08@gmail.com with your thoughts on the swap. My only request is that you specify whether or not you actually participated in the swap so I can keep track of everyone. Thanks!

I just found out about this great project over at The Sweetie Pie Press. If you’re anything like me and you have a couple (or 20) security envelopes lying around and you can’t quite figure out what to do with them, this is a perfect way to put them to use and help a fellow crafter at the same time! Just mail them to Becky and in return she’ll send you some adorable buttons! I can’t wait to get mine.

Consider it swapped

I sent out all 11 of my beautiful packages yesterday! I love how they turned out. Here’s a little photo essay to illustrate:

The whole gang. There are 9 designs in total. From the top: Steve McQueen, Sid Vicious, Tupac Shakur, Bill Gates, Middle: Johnny Cash, Bottom: Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Jane Fonda, David Bowie. I had a couple more that are in various stages of doneness, but I thought these were the best.

The back view. I made the silhouettes by blowing up the profile shot, but I thought it would be cool to have the actual mug shot on the back and the date they were arrested.

I started collecting random postcards a while ago, a little habit I picked up from Radatrix coincidentally, so I decided to write everyone a short note thanking them for their participation.

I was trying to figure out how to wrap them so that they didn’t get destroyed in the mail. My sister came up with a neat way of wrapping them with tissue paper and twine so I enlisted her help to get them all done.

All ready to go!

For those of you who didn’t participate in the swap or didn’t get the celebrity they wanted, I will be posting these on etsy very very soon so stay tuned!
