Mail Art Round-Up #10

Almost Thanksgiving! I love a holiday where all you’re expected to do is eat.

As for the mail art, I tried a couple of new experiments this month. I’m try to push myself to do something slightly different every month and this month I tried my hand at mail sculptures. I don’t really know how else to describe mail art sculptures, they’re sort of 1 part motico and 1 part mail art. The sculpture posed a unique problem as it ended up being too delicate to just slap some postage on it, but I didn’t want to shove it in an envelope. (God forbid!) So I came up with the idea of encasing it in a plastic sleeve with a paper enclosure at the top like the way it might be packaged at a store. I really like the way it turned out and I hope it got to its final destination in tact. Time will tell!

I also made a couple of new rubber stamps this month. I’ve been looking at a lot of Fluxus work for my thesis and I think the pieces are rubbing off on me. Take a look:
